Out in the Black – Serenity RPG
Ever dreamt of being a space cowboy? Of reaching out into the black, free from thems that’d bind you down. Takin’ jobs as they come, shuttling between boarder moons and rim planets. Livin’ free. Then I’ve got just the opportunity for you… Join the crew of The Iron Horse, a mid-bulk transport bound for the Rim where opportunity’s there for them with the will – and luck – to seize it. Smuggle priceless artifacts, rob trains and luxury cruise vessels, dodge the lawman and join the resistance, or sell out to the Alliance and the Corporations, battle cattle-rustling kidnappers and ruthless Triad Mafiosi – follow the legend of The Lioness the most famous lost treasure ship in the ‘Verse... and meet your Destiny, out in the black. Campaign Info 1. DM or organizer's name and preferred contact info Seth Zeren – you can reach me at seth.zeren at gmail.com 2. City/Location of the most common place you will be playing Cambridge, or environs. Hoping to either meet at Pandemonium, or somewhere in the vicinity. Not sure if I can offer my own abode. 3. Campaign world & rules version for the game Margaret Weis’s Serenity RPG System and Setting, based on the Firefly series (Joss Wedon’s finest and most tragic accomplishment) 4. Number of existing players 0 right now, looking to get a sense of interest, would ideally have between 3-5 players who can meet regularly, maybe six if we’re inconstant. 5. Age range of players, lowest to highest Looking for a mature game, if that’s you: fine. Also, please rate your most common play style with the following scale: Roleplaying: 1 to 10 where 1 = "Everyone is themselves" and 10 = "Borderline live-action roleplaying, we roll dice once in a long while" : 6: I like an immersive game where the players are comfortable to get into their character’s heads, without too much table talk. But it should also be a friendly atmosphere too. Action: 1 to 10 where 1 = "We fight monsters once or twice between levels" and 10 = "Every game session is mostly all combat" 7: I Expect the game to be high on storytelling and character development, but expect plenty of explosions! It’s cowboy film meets space opera so action will drive the plot, from gun fights and brawls, to high speed chases, sneaking about, heists and high-jinks. Story: 1 to 10 where 1 = "We only go on adventures we find on the tavern bulletin board" and 10 = "The characters are the center of a web of political and cross-campaign world intrigue where gods and the very fabric of existence depends on them!" 9: Though they will start as Greenhorns on the edge of space, picking up work as can, events and discoveries may plunge them into the heart of more than one ‘Verse altering conspiracy and set the stage for their immortal heroic legend (complete with folk ballads), of their ignominious demise. Drop me an email if you're interested and we'll try to find a time to meet up and chat in August. I'm hoping to get the game going sometime in early September, preferably on a weekday night. |

My dance card is full but you're bound to get some interest. If there is a gamer that doesn't like that series, I haven't met them.

Seth, I might be interested if you have enough players and could potentially offer my "abode" as you called it (Newton/Watertown area). How frequently are you planning on getting together once a week, every other week, once a month or a different schedule alltogether?

I don't know if I could do a regular game - I'm coming from Lynn on the MBTA - but I'd be up for a few games. I've wanted to try the Serenity system for a while.

I'm around very often and I'm absolutely interested in such a campaign. Dude, you've got yourself a character.

Hello everyone. Thanks for the great response so far. I'm thinking this is going to be a great campaign. I'm traveling until August so don't feel left out if I'm not in close contact. Once I get a little settled in Boston I'll send out more information, we can get together and chat / char-gen, etc. Looking forward to it! Stay frosty...

I'd love to be a part of this, especially if we're playing around the Newton area. Let me know!
