Game: Pathfinder (D&D bastardization)
When: Saturdays 12p-? Where: Milton or Easton.... thereabouts Who: Any laid back gamers who like kicking around drinking beer, boisterously RPing, and killin' orcs. Why: Because we have nothing better to do on Saturdays All right, so after a long (too long) gaming hiatus, I and a friend are trying to put together a Pathfinder game in the South shore-ish area. As it stands we intend to play somwhere either in Milton or Easton (our houses). The Milton spot boasts comfy couches while the Easton location sports a gazebo outside for outdoor (weather permitting) gaming. The time? Saturdays.... kinda all dayish (we usually start ~12p and intend to go til we can't stand each other anymore). So, in case you don't know, Pathfinder is D&D the way it is SUPPOSED to be. Basically it is 3.5 but with the rules cleaned up, grapple rules simplified, races better balanced to make even humans fun to play, etc. Basically D&D 4.0 the way it was supposed to be made (go ahead, argue with me, I dare ya!). We have the book, the PDF, and a ton of 3.5 stuff if we really need it (we want to really stick to Pathfinder and not mix too much). So a bit about the types of gamers we are..... hmmm, well we are more about the RP than just the hack-n-slash. Yes, I know, DnD is perhaps the LEAST adaptable to the hardcore roleplayer. We have played GURPS, Whitewolf, Lord of the Rings, BESM, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, etc. We decided though that in the end a simple DnD game has a certain elegance in it's simplicity. We are all about the geeking out while we game. Sometimes the plot fairy has to wield a two handed sword (as we start on a tangent about the latest Naruto episode) and smack us over the head with it. But we intend to play all day really, so we're not concerned about time, just having a cool time. So if you're interested in giving up your Saturdays to Pathfinder, geeking out, and some seriously fun RP, lemme know either here or message me (Hey Christian.... do we get messages on this thing? Bad organizer I be.....). (additionally, I have to drive to Abington to pick up a guy, so if youre on the way, I may even be able to carpool) |

A gazebo? I attempt to use Diplomacy on it...
I'll keep an eye on this thread, although those locations may be a bit far-flung for me. We'll see how it shapes up. |

I would love to, were I not starting a game of my own. Also, if I didn't value my Saturdays.
Good luck. |

A gazebo? I attempt to use Diplomacy on it... I can't help to post this thing I found a while ago. Eric was playing a Neutral Paladin in Ed's game. He was on some lord's lands when the following exchange occurred: ED: You see a well groomed garden. In the middle, on a small hill, you see a gazebo. ERIC: A gazebo? What color is it? ED: (Pause) It's white, Eric. ERIC: How far away is it? ED: About 50 yards. ERIC: How big is it? ED: (Pause) It's about 30 ft across, 15 ft high, with a pointed top. ERIC: I use my sword to detect good on it. ED: It's not good, Eric. It's a gazebo. ERIC: (Pause) I call out to it. ED: It won't answer. It's a gazebo. ERIC: (Pause) I sheathe my sword and draw my bow and arrows. Does it respond in any way? ED: No, Eric, it's a gazebo! ERIC: I shoot it with my bow (roll to hit). What happened? ED: There is now a gazebo with an arrow sticking out of it. ERIC: (Pause) Wasn't it wounded? ED: OF COURSE NOT, ERIC! IT'S A GAZEBO! ERIC: (Whimper) But that was a +3 arrow! ED: It's a gazebo, Eric, a GAZEBO! If you really want to try to destroy it, you could try to chop it with an axe, I suppose, or you could try to burn it, but I don't know why anybody would even try. It's a @#$%!! gazebo! ERIC: (Long pause. He has no axe or fire spells.) I run away. ED: (Thoroughly frustrated) It's too late. You've awakened the gazebo. It catches you and eats you. ERIC: (Reaching for his dice) Maybe I'll roll up a fire-using mage so I can avenge my Paladin. At this point, the increasingly amused fellow party members restored a modicum of order by explaining to Eric what a gazebo is. Thus ends the tale of Eric and the Dread Gazebo. It could have been worse; at least the gazebo wasn't on a grassy gnoll. |

That's my favorite part of the exchange. |

My gazebo is a CR 15. It also has the ability to call a "Moth Swarm" at will. It is also surrounded by a "Protection from Mosquito" aura.

Hmm, I might be interested in this. I don't have any experience in non-dnd tabletop but even that experience is very little. Would you be interested in accepting noobs? I may even be able to convince my wife that she needs to play. I'll take a look at the book for pathfinder - is there a particular edition to look for?

Rick, you can find pathfinder rulebooks here:
http://paizo.com/stor... It is DND 3.75, which is a DND 3.5 compatible ruleset. It is DND 3.5 in the most part, with quite a few changes to balance the game, and it has only one edition right now. |

It also has an SRD (in fact, it is the open gaming license that allowed them to use DnD stuff to begin with)
http://www.d20pfsrd.c... And we're still looking for 1 or 2 more players so send me a msg and we can communicate by email. ;) |
