I've been considering a number of games. Not sure if/when I can run anything, as my schedule's been awful lately. It'd probably be a weekly game falling on Sundays. Anyway, here's what's been on my mind:
1. I want to run a game wherein the players are fallen gods. Cataclysm removes a number of gods and powers from "office," leaving a massive power vacuum in the heavens (and hells). No one knows what happened or why, but a number of gods (many more than just the PCs) have been made mortal and stripped of most of their power. Very epic storyline in mind here, but left fairly open for the players to go wild. D&D 3.5. Planescape, for the possibilities. Level 3 Gestalt characters, any god allowed. 2. A sort of post-scifi fantasy. Magic = advanced technology from a previous civilization, in a nutshell. It's a lot more complicated than that, but half the fun in this setting would be discovering it, so I'll not spoil anything. Possibly D&D with slightly modified magic, but probably not. Possibly GURPS. The setting is fairly original--at least, I've never encountered anything quite like it yet--and I've considered just making a new system for it. Easier said than done, though. Maybe in the future when I'm out of school and unemployed and have more free time. 3. I'd also like to run a prehistoric game. Mesolithic, an era I'm decently knowledgeable about. I'm not going to keep it strictly realistic at all times, though, because this isn't a prehistoric archaeology lesson. I honestly have no idea what I'd want to run this with. 4. I'd really like to run a Mega Man game, but a bit darker. Players would be artificial intelligences during the robot revolution. Maybe GURPS. Maybe ArtifIce, but that's an awfully unfinished system for all that it was a neat idea. 5. D&D Evil campaign (Shitstorm!). Nonstandard races only. PCs are lieutenants of a Big Bad Evil Guy, and reside in a dungeon. They enact evil plans on the surface, defend their home from glory-seeking heroes, and may be rewarded with dungeons of their own. Overt betrayal will not be tolerated by the master, but subtle jockeying for rank is more than acceptable. Any of these sound interesting? Edit: So far I see people like #1 and #5 most. I'll leave this up for input, but barring sudden explosive turnout for one of the others, I'll probably go with one of those. Probably #1. I'll post a separate thread when I'm ready to run the game. #1 is my favorite out of all of those. I've never been in a gestalt game, but I'd love to try one, since I LOVE multiclassed fighter/spellcaster types. The idea of being a fallen god trying to get back into power would be neat, too. #5 would also be cool, since my usual character has a Lawful Good/Lawful Neutral mentality. Evil could be a delightful change. Also, I've always wanted a game where the players get to have a 'home base' type thing, so #5 could have the option of that; better room and board with more successes on missions, etc. I'd love to join either.

Yo Haus, I'd be super interested if you're looking to run your #1 or #5 3.5 game. I'll tell ya, I've been out of my regular game for over a year and am seriously jonesin' for a new one. Been doing the 3.5 thang for years and am enamored equally with dense storytelling/rp'ing and massive amounts of violent d&d combat.
I've played everything from a gnomish dog-riding cavalier to a half-ogre greco roman wrestler/cleric. I'm in Brighton and would be more than down to host: I've got a pretty big house with a downstairs I *never* use/would love to utilize. I've got a car and will travel too. So waddaya think, epic gestalt or brutal evil campaign? Let's get this wagon rollin'! Let me know if you need any help organizing. Thanks, Patrick |

The biggest variable for me to tackle was where I would hold the game, actually. If you're willing to host, all the better.
Is your place T accessible? Lastly, I still need to clear up some things before I can start the game. Deadlines coming up, you see. March 1st being the biggest deadline. After that, I'll probably be good. Edit: Which one I think? It has little to do with what I think. If I didn't want to run it, I wouldn't have listed it. I like all of the above options. On second thought, though, I'm hesitant on the evil campaign with an entirely new group. Evil campaigns are fractious to begin with--if I don't know how solid you all are as players, the game could be a disaster. I'll throw my vote for the ex-gods game. I'd be interested in the #1 option also. I played in a game run at Pandemonium about 2-3 years ago that was known as the Pirate Campaign; mostly evil alignments. It went well until, you guessed it, we all attempted to kill each other off with more overt methods.
Wouldn't mind having another go at the idea, but don't know how to avoid a repeat of it. Still, I'm game to try again. |

howdy hoss, this all sounds good. I'd be more than open to hosting, my spot's in oak square (b line to boston college or 57 bus) and i've got free parking for any PC's who've got automobiles. I think a gestalt game would be super rad: let's plan to get started once march rolls around. you said lvl 3/lvl 3 to start off? I'll start tinkering with some character concepts now, lemme know if you'd have any interest in starting at lvl's 4 or 5, that'd be boss (especially if we end up with a smaller group) but lvl 3/lvl 3 would be fine too.
anyone that's interested in this game please email me (preferably my gmail account) and we'll take stock of how many PC's we've got. I may be able to wrangle an extra body or two, but am fine with a smaller group as well as it's easier to schedule/get everyone together on a weekly basis (i'd like this to be weekly if yall are). Bigger groups always seem to have at least one PC missing per session and that kinda kills RP. Since we're talking gestalt I'm guessing Haus that you're open to most books being used? Isn't unearthed arcana 3ED? Let's talk about what's good and what's off limits. let the misadventures of the ex-deities commence! p |

It ususally still takes about an hour for me to travel to BC, which is kind of a pain.
Just a note that we can use the library or classrooms at Northeastern University if this seems more convenient for people. I can rent rooms in the library for free. Parking could be a problem but it's accessible by both the green E line and the orange line. |

Yo James!
an hour from northeastern to bc? yikes. if you live near kenmore square the 57 bus starts there and drops you off 5 min from my house--i've never been on that thing longer than 20 getting to my place. i'd also be fine with picking people up if we can find a good meetup (pun intended) spot where everybody can head over to. i really prefer house games to libraries/game shops, it's easier to relax, get comfortable and enjoy yourself (and maybe a beer, takeout, etc.). Also man, I think i saw on a thread somewhere else that you were only available to game on friday nites. Is that still the case? I've got shows most friday and saturday nites. Not that i wouldn't be down for a late-nite game occasionally (those are actually my favorites) but most weekends I'll be beating up my drums. Sundays would be the best day/nite for me, or maybe mon/tues/wed at like 7:30 (i teach until 7pm during the week). |
