I was thinking that maybe it might be a good idea to post the towns we live in. We could then probably figure out who lives closest and create some games based on location, if that'd be easier? I live in Newton. Does this make any sense?

Sure, Joe. Makes sense to me. First, please let me thank you for being proactive and putting this out there.
Colin Davis and I share an apartment in Waltham. We're both interested in new games and meeting new people. EDIT: I'm not sure why the forum says I live in Newton. I'm certainly not far from there, but it's off by a few miles. Weird. Edited by Ryan Connell on May 25, 2011 5:00 PM |

Interestingly, if I let my ipod autoselect a location for me by checking where my IP is tethered to, I get Waltham. They're basically the same town, literally five minutes apart so it doesn't matter by much. If you guys can host, I'd vote to go to your place, it's nice and close and parking is easy in Waltham.

IP's are weird.
Yeah, sure. We have a room set aside for gaming and I'm happy to host. Colin's feeling too strapped for time at the moment to GM another game, but I'm sure we can work something out. Until we can get a role playing game going there's always boardgames and getting to know people. |

For sure. Are you able to set up a meet and greet style event? We could do something simple like Munchkin.

I live in Lynn, and would love to know of anyone playing things that are non-d20 and Boy Howdy Do I Mean NON-d20.
The main reason I don't usually go to more RPFoGB stuff is because it's all in Boston/Cambridge/Somerville, which is not so much hard as expensive for me to get to without a car on the income I have. |

Colin and I have taken a shine to GURPS this last year or so. I'd say it's our favorite system at the moment, but we're still open to playing in others. But, it's pretty damn non-d20.
I'm sorry to hear about your troubles, Ben. Roleplaying shouldn't be that expensive of a hobby, especially when compared to the costs of others. I'm not far from the Waltham commuter rail stop, just a few blocks, but the trains are anything but convenient, with the way they take your money and bend you to their schedule. S'likely better than a taxi, though. Joe, we could have a few people by with a little notice on a fairly flexible schedule, happily, but if I were to set up an official Meet Up, I'd have to put it toward the end of June, partly to give folks time to plan around it and partly to be sure we have the supplies, space, and proper expectations for a larger group. I'm happy to get together on a small scale to test the waters, find out what sort of games people are looking for, and play a game or two (Colin and I are partial to Dominion these days, fun and fast card game, and up to six players). Having even four people by is a lot different than having eight or more, especially if we don't know most of them yet. Edited by Ryan Connell on May 26, 2011 11:54 AM |

That's sort of what I meant. It might also be a good idea to get everybody together and grab a coffee or a drink and talk about what we'd like to do, sort of get to know each other in a non-game setting first.

I am willing to travel once in a while, so if you don't mind me dropping by once or twice I wouldn't mind trying GURPS.

I live in Roslindale, I'm willing to travel a little when I can. I know not many people are from my area and there really isn't much around here. I'm willing to try just about any type of games someone is willing to teach me and I'm also interested in the boardgames/meet & greet style meetups.
