I'm new to the Boston area and in need of my roleplaying fix. Plus it's always nice to meet fellow dice-rollers and make friends!
A bad genre? No such thing. Sturgeon's Law applies, but 10% of anything is enough to play! I've enjoyed high, low, urban, and future fantasy. I have less experience with sci-fi, occult, and what have you, but I'm sure they're very fun too.
D20 and its derivatives are fun (I'm partial to Arcana Evolved, myself), but I think my favorite might be White Wolf/Storyteller. But Shadowrun is fun too, and I've had good experiences with Unknown Armies... okay, I guess I like 'em all.
Despite my efforts to cultivate a taste for fine, literature, I find myself turning to fantasy and science fiction again and again. And not even the especially good books! I'm partial to good world-building, myself.
I have watched a total of three TV shows with any regularity: Firefly, Battlestar Galactica, and Arrested Development. I blame a lack of television in my formative years.
I can be many different kinds of roleplayer. It's all about which role I'm playing! Har har. I like plots and characters more than combat, but I reluctantly admit to a sneaking power-gaming tendency that I control only with difficulty.
