Player and GM since the early 1980s, long-standing fan of GURPS and most recently picked up Savage Worlds. These days I'm most interested in Fantasy genres outside d20-based systems.
I prefer Fantasy settings and superheroes (in their many flavors), and prefer lower-power gaming. I've only done a smattering of sci-fi, no real memorable games. I haven't really warmed to modern settings (like soldiers & spies & such).
It's more about people than system. I don't have anything against D&D/d20 variants. I'm up for trying anything, though these days I don't have time to memorize vast tomes. I want to spend time gaming, not looking up rules.
Love P.K. Dick, a hack of a writer when it comes to style, but he wrote some really top-notch books conceptually. For the past year, I've also sucked up all the Terry Pratchett Discworld books I could get my hands on down at the library.
I don't watch a whole lot of TV anymore (too many commercials on broadcast TV, and can't see paying for TV). As for movies, The Golden Compass put me off fantasy movies and it took Juno to restore my faith that Hollywood can tell a good story.
Versatile. As a GM, I want the players to interact with interesting and memorable personalities -- whether friendly or hostile, from dangerously cunning to bumbling incompetent. As a player, I like memorable PCs... not powerful ones.
