Burning Wheel is a fantasy roleplaying system for creating intense character-driven games. Beliefs beget actions, actions create situations, and situations challenge beliefs -- it is this cycle that drives the story.
Are you prepared to accept the consequences of your actions?
Burning Wheel uses a d6 dice pool. Rolls are rare, and as a consequence, every roll matters. Refinements of the basic mechanic yield crunchy subsystems for money, arguments and social conflict, martial combat, ranged combat, introducing and creating NPCs, and flinching from surprise or pain... each which will be introduced and explained as needed.
We'll start with a gentle introduction to the basics of Burning Wheel before dropping the players into the middle of a fiery situation.
This is the second in a series of one-shot indie RPG experiences to be offered monthly over the course of 2010. Each month will feature a different GM running a new game. This month's GM will be our own Tresi.

Thanks Tracey, I enjoyed it thouroughly as well, especially as I really like sandbox scenarios. Burning Wheel seems to have some pretty cool mechanics, the one thing I didn't like was that player skill had to much impact on the outcome, compared to the skill of the character (similar to the Riddle of Steel and 7th Sea I presume, which appear to have a bit of an issue there as well).
Big response here, Tresi! Is this more people than you can handle?
I'll need to step out for 90 minutes at around 1:40, so I can serve as assistant or observer if we have too many players for a smooth game. (Jacob can stay and play.)
“ Tracey(sp) ran a great game. The other players had genuine interest and were very social. I got to play a Dwarven Prince and I am still heady with the power. I hope to here from a few of them and maybe we can get Boston burning on the wheel. ”

For the scenario I'm running, 8 players is perfect! We'll figure out a role for you, Chuck.

One week left to sign up! An accurate player count is very helpful, so sign up if you're coming.
Blast, of course the day this is going on conflicts with Boskone. And while I really want to try Burning Wheel, I want to be at Boskone even more.
Oh well.
