Sundered Skies is a campaign setting for the Savage Worlds system, one where islands float in a vast void. It combines many of the trappings of a traditional fantasy setting with piracy and horror. You can learn more about the setting here.
Savage Worlds is a rules-light alternative to D&D, emphasizing pulp action and drama. You can learn more about Savage Worlds here and here. Savage Worlds allows for high degree of character customization, but the mechanics focus on character capabilities, not personality: think Indiana Jones, not Bram Stoker's Dracula.
I plan to run the campaign with a group of 6-8 players, probably on alternating Saturdays, though our first meeting will be on a Sunday, June 28. I'm looking for players who enjoy deep engagement with an action-centered game, but not necessarily battle-mat centered action.
If you're interested, please check out the campaign website and if you find yourself inspired you should be able to get started on a character — I've provided pretty much all the information you need.
You can also drop me an email with questions and, though I may not be able to get right back to you, you should get a response within a few days.

Thank you for getting this started Chuck
I've made a sorcerer assassin, a boughbreaker elf.
Tewhill: sound like a solid character concept. And don't be afraid to embrace the pop culture reference, especially when it cuts against the grain of the fantasy dog cliché of Gimli the Dwarf. Here's your roleplay litany: (1) What makes my character different from other dwarves of the Sundered Skies; (2) What makes him the same as all the rest?
Douglas: the more you can do ahead of time, the better. But I'm expecting that people unfamiliar with the system may need guidance and that everyone will need to do some tweaking. Two tips: Vigor and Spirit are both vital for survival, so you will prob. need to adv. both to d6; Notice and Guts are skills you'll prob. want to have at least d4 in.
Hi Chuck,
Are you letting us role our attributes ahead of time or are we doing this on Sunday? How much of our character creation do you want done ahead of time?
Will be coming in with a dwarven engineer. Tempted to name him Anthony Michael Hall with the wierd science connection. But that's silly.
It fits in fine. Needed to make a minor adjustment.
See you next week at high noon.
Tewhill,
I'd hoped to finish up character creation (I assume there will be questions and tweaks, even if everyone arrives with a finished character in hand). And I'd hoped to run a brief preliminary adventure. So I guess I was budgeting 4-5 hrs total. How does that work for your schedule?
Is the meet on the 28th a full game session or just a brief meet and greet? Need to know the expected length due to planned events later in the day. Thanks.
